EPHEMERAL FEVER
Disease of cows below the age of 2 years.
Mortality is low
Etiology:
Occurs by sand fly bite.
Symptoms:
- High fever up to 107F
- Lameness by one leg
- Arthritis
- Anorexia
- Symptoms will disappear in 3 days so it is called three day sickness
Diagnosis:
By signs and symptoms
Treatment:
- Give broad spectrum antibiotics (To avoid secondary infection) along with analgesics and multivitamins
- Give antihistamine drugs parentally
