EPISTAXIS/NASAL BLEEDING

Bleeding from nostrils

Etiology –

• Trauma on nasal area
• Bacterial infection
• Wound in nasal cavity
• Nitrate/mercury poisoning

Symptoms-

• Bleeding from one or both nostrils
• Difficulty in breathing
• High respiration rate
• Pale mucus membrane (excessive bleeding)

Diagnosis – 

by signs and symptoms or history of trauma

Treatment-

• Use haemostatic drugs
• Calcium inj.
• Broad spectrum antibiotics along with analgesics and multivitamins
• Antihistamines
• Mineral Mixtures
